BOVEGLIO: Apartment placed in a
typical Tuscan village in Medieval Boveglio (Lucca). Altitude of 800
meters in the summer you can appreciate the climate tempered. Those
looking for a quiet place is in the right place.
The apartment has a living room-kitchen, bathroom, double bedroom and a
bedroom with bunk beds. The living room is arranged a single sofa bed.
The garden at the disposal of the enclosed structure and equipped with
umbrella, table, chairs and barbecue.
The village
Boveglio is a charming and ancient Tuscan village, situated in the
municipality of Villa Basilica, between the provinces of Lucca and
Pistoia, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages and more
specifically the Eighth century.
Medieval Origins
The village, which was located a castle no longer exists today, still
bears many signs of its intact medieval origin. Portals in the outer
limits of the ancient stone walls, while the highest part of the country
stands the Clock Tower, originally a watchtower. Features are also
narrow cobbled streets, fountains and wash houses, still in use today.
Outside the perimeter of the walls at the bottom of the valley, stands
the church dedicated to St. James and Gines. Originally built in
Romanesque style and then revised in 1500, is one of the best preserved
in the Lucca area. Noteworthy are the baptismal font in a hexagonal
shape, the marble tabernacle attributed to Civitali and the organ of
Michelangelo Crudeli, one of the most famous builders of the '700. Many
paintings also decorate the vaults of the nave and two aisles.
The Madonna del Monte
Going on the road to the plateau of Pizzorne, you can see is the typical
church of the Madonna del Monte, where in summer it also plays the
traditional festivaldedicated to the Madonna.
Woods and trekking
Surrounded by beautiful woods of chestnut, Boveglio is an ideal base for
excursions and trekking and is renowned for the search for mushrooms.
Always the wooded area around the village is considered one of the best
in Tuscany for the search for mushrooms and other woodland products.
MONTECARLO: At the feet of the antique village of Montecarlo, in the suburb of S. Giuseppe, is sited “ CORTE PINCIONE”, courthouse that goes back to the beginning of the XVII century, entirely renewed two years ago, but keeping the fascine of its time. You can reach the courthouse through the treelined road indicated by a wooden sign having the number 120 painted on it.
You’ll get to a spacious large square where you can park your car and let your children play free, far from the main road (street s. Giuseppe).
Beside the fact that you are in a carachteristic tuscan countryside with 2 bedrooms for a total of 8+2 beds and couch read matrimonial in the living area, you’ll enjoy from every window the outstanding panorama dipped in the green of the tuscan countryside, the plateau of Pizzorne, first bastion of the “appennino Tosco-emiliano”, the pleasant landscape of Montecarlo, the rural houses recalling the style of the country people of the last century, the total absence of industries, testifying the cure for the atmosphere that the several local administrations and the population itself have chosen in this land of lucchesia.
